Academy High School Diploma
The Classical Liberal Arts Academy confers a high school diploma upon students who complete its classical course of secondary studies — a diploma accredited by Cognia, the world's largest accrediting body for primary and secondary schools, and recognized by colleges, universities, and employers throughout the United States and beyond.
The Academy's diploma, however, certifies something quite different from its modern counterparts. While the modern high school assembles credits from disconnected subjects, taught from textbooks and measured by seat time, the Academy's secondary curriculum is the classical course of studies: the arts of language — Grammar, Reasoning, and Rhetoric — mastered through the actual study of Latin and Greek; the mathematical arts of Arithmetic and Geometry, learned as the ancients taught them; the reading of the classic texts of Western civilization in the company of the saints and scholars who wrote them; and the study of Sacred Scripture and Catholic doctrine, which orders all learning to wisdom. Modern requirements in mathematics, sciences, and social studies are fulfilled — but they are fulfilled within a course of studies whose end is not college admission or employment, but the knowledge of Wisdom and the practice of virtue.
Every requirement of the diploma is published, and progress is measured by demonstrated mastery: a student advances by proving that he knows, not by sitting through hours. Families may follow their student's progress through the diploma's requirements course by course, and when the full standard is met, the diploma is conferred by the Headmaster's own hand and permanently recorded in the student's academic record. For homeschooling families, the Academy's diploma answers the question that shadows every homeschool journey — will it be recognized? — with a credential accredited by the same body that accredits the public and private schools of their own states, earned through an education those schools no longer offer.
